Building on his expertise, John opened his first furniture store on Oxford Road, Middlesbrough in 1969. It was through his unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service and deep furniture knowledge that he swiftly earned a stellar reputation. In 1978, John's wife Ann joined the company as our interior design consultant, further enhancing our offerings.
As our business rapidly expanded, we recognised the need to relocate to larger premises. Thus, we moved to an expansive 18,000-square-foot store on Portrack Lane, Stockton-on-Tees, where our success continued to flourish.
Embracing the digital era, we foresaw the opportunity to reach a broader audience by establishing an online presence in 2000. In fact, we were among one of the first e-commerce furniture websites. In 2008, we made the strategic decision to transition to an online-only model and launched our website, newbyhouseinteriors.co.uk. This shift allowed us to provide products at prices that were previously unimaginable, as we no longer carried the substantial overhead costs associated with maintaining physical stores. Despite this transformation, we remained committed to our principles of delivering impeccable service. Our online store now boasts a vast array of products, catering to customers across the UK. In 2015, John's son Richard joined the company and currently oversees the day-to-day operations, ensuring your needs are met with utmost care and professionalism.
